The UK Government has been cracking down on the illegal activity of delivery drivers working for Deliveroo, Uber Eats and Justeat.
Moped delivery drivers, mainly of Brazilian nationality were targets of the sting operation by Home Office Teams between 16-21st April 2023.
In an article posted on the government website it details how moped drivers were targeted, with 44 being detained for offences including illegal working and possession of false documentation. Weapons and cash was seized thought to be linked to criminal activity.

If you work for Deliveroo, Uber Eats or Justeat you are classed as self-employed. This means that you are not an employee and are paid through your own business, and are responsible for paying any tax that is due.
You must be registered as self-employed and file a tax return each year, declaring your income to HMRC.
If you fail to register as self-employed, don’t file your tax return, or dont pay any tax which is due you can be fined by HMRC and will be charged interest on any unpaid tax.
