Can I work for Uber Eats and Deliveroo and be full-time employed?

There is a major misconception about people being employed by their employer and having a second job.

People are concerned that if they have another job and their employer finds out, they will get in trouble or lose their job.

With ever increasing prices for food and general living costs people are turning to companies such as Uber Eats to start a side hustle in order to make money on the side.

This post will provide the information you need to make a decision on whether you want to have a second job to make money on the side.

To set your mind at ease, in the UK it is perfectly legal to be employed by a company and have a second job.

UK law states that there is nothing stopping an employee from getting a second job. However it is always worth checking your contract (if you have one) to ensure that the terms dont prohibit you from taking on a second job.

An employer may be able to stop you from working a second job if there is a clause in your contract preventing you from taking on a second job, or the employer believes there is a conflict of interest.

So it is worth checking, and maybe reassure your employer that the work you do outside of their organisations for Uber Eats or Deliveroo will not impact on the work you do with your employer.

Of course if you work a full day with your employer then work extra hours after work for Deliveroo and Uber Eats you may get tired. If this starts to have an impact on your day job, your employer may start to question whether doing deliveries on the side is the right thing to be doing.
